Introduction
In the mystical realm of Tuljapur, where the divine presence of Mata Tuljabhavani reigns supreme, there exists a tale of devotion, obedience, and the boundless grace of the goddess. At the left side of the revered Tuljabhavani Temple stands the Siddha Garibnath Math, a place steeped in spiritual significance and ancient wisdom. It is the story of Siddh Garibnathji, the revered Mathadhipathi of Siddha Garibnath Math, and his profound pilgrimage to Kashi, guided by the unseen hand of destiny and the omnipresent grace of the goddess.
What Tulja Bhavani Mata said to Babaji ?
Siddh Garibnathji, entrusted with the stewardship of the Siddha Garibnath Math, approached Mata Tuljabhavani with a longing in his heart. “I want to go to Kashi,” said Siddh Garibnathji to the Mata Tulja Bhavani presence before him. Yet, Mata Tuljabhavani, in her infinite wisdom, assured him that all the blessings and resources of Kashi were present in Tuljapur. “If you want to go then I have a condition for you, Whatever happens do not look back while returning Tuljapur”, Mata Tuljabhavani said. And Siddh Garibnathji Maharaj accepted the condition.
The Journey to Kashi
As Siddh Garibnathji traversed the sacred paths leading to Kashi, each step resonated with the echoes of devotion and determination. However, driven by an insatiable longing for spiritual enlightenment, Baba Garibnathji set forth on foot towards Kashi, clutching nothing but a Chadhi / छडी (cane) and a Shrifal / श्रीफळ (coconut) as his companions.

As he traversed the sacred paths leading to Kashi, Baba Garibnathji reached the banks of the holy Ganga River, where he ceremoniously immersed himself in its purifying waters. In a symbolic gesture, he left his Chadhi / छडी (cane) and a Shrifal / श्रीफळ (coconut) in the flowing stream.
Returning to Tuljapur
On his way back to Tuljapur, Siddha Garibnathji encountered a mysterious phenomenon – a vague but persistent rattling sound. But committed to the reading given by Sri Tuljabhavani Devi, he decided not to look back. And he continues his journey to Tuljapur.
The miracle of Gomukh Tirtha
Arriving once again at the revered precincts of Tuljabhavani Temple, Siddh Garibnathji sought solace at the holy Tuljabhavani Gomukh Tirtha, a sacred spring believed to hold the essence of divine blessings. After returning to Tuljapur, in Gomukh Tirtha, he took the holy water of the shrine on his hand and while circling it over his eyes, once again extended his hand towards the holy water of Gomukh Tirtha, the Chadhi / छडी (cane) and a Shrifal / श्रीफळ (coconut) that he left at Kashi fell in his hands.
In that sacred moment of realization, Baba Garibnathji comprehended the profound truth of Mata Tuljabhavani’s words—Tuljapur indeed held within its embrace the essence and blessings of Kashi. With a heart overflowing with gratitude and humility, he bowed before the goddess, acknowledging her omnipresent grace and guidance.
And so, the divine tale of Siddh Garibnathji and the sacred waters of Tulja Bhavani Gomukh Tirtha stands as a testament to the unwavering power of faith, the boundless compassion of the divine, and the eternal interplay between destiny and devotion in the tapestry of human existence.
